Meet Our Management Team

  • Rick Frisbie

    OWNER

    Rick spent the majority of his career in many capacities at San Mateo based Franklin Templeton Investments. After, he was the CEO of a FinTech startup. He is currently in charge of corporate development for a military technology company, and works with many veterans. He has his MBA from Georgetown University. 

    Rick met his wife Alexa at the University of Virginia. They were married in San Francisco. She was his heroine.

  • Susie Cresci

    DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

    Susie has her teaching credential with a Cross-cultural, Language, and Academic Development emphasis. She has experience in many different educational settings. Susie was the first person hired to teach at Workshop in Fall of 2009, and has served as site director at various sites. She is in charge of recruiting talented teachers and site directors, among other responsibilities, in her position as Director of Human Resources.

  • Corina Outten

    DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

    Corina has extensive experience in Early Childhood Education. Since joining Workshop in 2016, she has held roles as a teacher, Site Director, Program Manager, and now Director of Operations. Corina is driven to apply her expertise to guide classroom practices and foster student growth. She is dedicated to providing a safe and creative learning environment that acknowledges and supports the diverse learning styles of all students.

  • Lynn Fischbach

    DIRECTOR OF BILLING

    Lynn graduated from Chico State University with a degree in Sociology. After raising her son, she realized she wanted to continue to work in a position supporting children. Lynn is responsible for billing and family payments for Workshop Education.

  • Princess Parangan

    SITE DIRECTOR / TEACHER
    FARALLONE VIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    Princess aspires to become a school teacher, eager to amass experience across all grade levels. Her journey began with tutoring at the age of 15, followed by a transition to teaching at a private elementary school in 2018. Now, she has found her calling at Workshop Education. Formerly serving as the Site Director for Roy Cloud in Redwood City, Princess is thrilled to bring her expertise to Farallone View, where she aims to instill in students a deep appreciation for the wonders of learning!

  • Madison Barker

    TEACHER
    FARALLONE VIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    Madison, an aspiring educator, earned her degree in Developmental Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. With experience in a private elementary school setting, she has found joy in understanding the perspectives of young learners. Her enthusiasm for nurturing children's growth and fostering environments where they can freely express themselves is palpable. Previously serving as a Workshop teacher at North Star Academy in Redwood City, Madison looks forward to bringing her expertise to Farallone View.

  • Katy Katzenberger

    SITE DIRECTOR / TEACHER
    HATCH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    For over five years, Katy has served as a Site Director at Workshop, where she finds fulfillment in empowering children to embrace their creative abilities with confidence. With a wealth of experience in engaging with elementary and middle school students, she brings valuable insights to her role. Katy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Residing in the Bay Area for three decades, she is passionate about hiking, writing, delving into local history, and spending time with family and friends.

  • Alaigha Penaloza

    TEACHER HATCH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    Alaigha, a dedicated and enthusiastic educator, grew up and resides in Half Moon Bay. She is the proud mother of a three year old son, Mateo. With experience in a private elementary school, Alaigha is excited to join the Workshop community at Hatch. She looks forward to supporting the Hatch community and facilitating the creation of active learning environments. In her free time, Alaigha enjoys spending time with her family and going on nature walks.

  • Mary Dournaee

    SITE DIRECTOR / TEACHER NORTH STAR ACADEMY

    Mary is a Bay Area native born in San Francisco and raised in San Mateo, CA. As an experienced STEM educator, she strives to build innovative and creative learning opportunities for her students. Mary has experience as a teacher, program manager and director of education for various schools, tutoring centers, and after-school programs within the Bay Area. Mary’s hobbies include hiking, gardening, curriculum writing, and developing websites. She is also a wife and mother of two inquisitive, energetic children.

  • Caroline Skrobak

    TEACHER
    NORTH STAR ACADEMY

    Caroline joined Workshop Education as a substitute teacher in the fall of 2023 and now supports the NSA program full time! They are excited to be part of a team that prioritizes a dynamic and creative after-school environment. As an aspiring outdoor educator, Caroline is passionate about sharing their love of nature and empowering students in their unique and intuitive abilities. Caroline holds a B.A. in environmental studies from the University of San Francisco where they specialized in cultural anthropology and geospatial information analysis. With experiences teaching at preschool through high school levels, Caroline sources a great deal of hope from working with young people and within the diverse Bay Area community.

  • Kyra Harris

    TEACHER NORTH STAR ACADEMY

    Kay served as a PE teacher for about six years in the Redwood City School District before becoming a paraeducator in March 2023. Known to the RCSD community as "Coach Kay," she was born and raised in East Palo Alto. Kay graduated from Woodside High School and attended Langston University, an HBCU in Oklahoma. However, she is a true Californian at heart and returned to the Bay Area. Kay loves working with children and serving her community. She has a 10-year-old who is almost taller than she is!

  • Katie Navarro

    WOODSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    Katie, a native of Redwood City, California, is a proud graduate of Woodside High School. She has a deep passion for working with children and is currently completing her education to further her commitment to this field. Outside of her professional aspirations, Katie enjoys spending quality time with her younger sister, friends, and family. She also has a love for movies, scenic drives, and music.

  • Katherine Gomez

    TEACHER
    WOODSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    Katherine is a Redwood City, California native and a graduate of Woodside High School. She recently completed her degree in Marketing at the University of Nevada, Reno. Despite her academic background in marketing, Katherine has always been deeply passionate about education and teaching. She has contributed to her community through volunteering at Hawes Elementary School with the Reading Partners program and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In her free time, Katherine enjoys hiking with her dog, spending time with friends and family, and exploring new locations through road trips or flights.

  • Lena Keller

    SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

    Hailing from San Francisco, Lena has experience as a teacher and lecturer for preschool through college levels, having worked specifically with disadvantaged students helping to bridge any gaps. She has worked in multiple industries including finance, product development and production management for apparel and home textiles, proving to be an adaptable professional with high emotional intelligence, and relationship building soft skills which are essential for working with young minds. Lena holds a MFA in Interior Architecture and Design from the Academy of Art University, as well as a BA in American Studies, Technology and Industry from the University of California at Berkeley. She is a mother of a coastside elementary school student, who knows first hand the positive impact of Workshop Education.
